The 2026-27 Strategic Plan is built on three priorities which guide everything being done as an association — from how to support members day-to-day to positioning the profession for the future.
Lead the Profession Through Change
As ocular therapies evolve, EBAA is the leading voice guiding eye banking through emerging science and clinical practices — ensuring eye banks retain a clear, valued role in sight restoration.
- Technology & Clinical Standards — convening an emerging technologies summit, publishing guidance on standards of care, and expanding EBAA Medical Standards to integrate new therapies
- Eye Bank Operations & Quality — developing tools to track outcomes, reduce recovery and processing costs, and support eye banks navigating changes
- Identity & Partnerships — strengthening EBAA’s public identity and deepening partnerships with allied donation and transplantation organizations
Maintain Financial Sustainability
EBAA is strengthening its financial resilience by diversifying revenue, managing expenses, and expanding earned-income opportunities — so investing in the mission continues regardless of membership shifts or industry consolidation.
- Membership & Accreditation Revenue — redesigning dues structures to reflect where members are in their development, and expanding international membership
- Sponsorship & Philanthropy — growing sponsorship and exhibitor revenue while exploring philanthropic opportunities to fund new initiatives
- Investment Strategy — evaluating vendor and partner relationships; building a framework for sound external investments
- Financial Planning & Risk — anticipating the financial impact of consolidation and emerging technologies on the field
Deepen Member Engagement
EBAA is committed to making membership indispensable — delivering resources, connections, and professional development which support members’ daily success in ways that can’t be found anywhere else.
- Accreditation & Education — presenting a compelling demonstration of the importance of EBAA accreditation and educating physicians on the value of partnering with EBAA-member eye banks
- Global Access & Distribution — creating international tissue distribution resources and engaging global health agencies to facilitate tissue acceptance
- Leadership & Workforce — building mentorship programs, a leadership pipeline for Board and committee roles, and workforce development resources
- Member Connection — conducting direct Board outreach to eye bank CEOs and all members to respond to their evolving needs
