Ongoing Events & Observences

Eye Donation Month
For 35 years, EBAA and its member eye banks have utilized this commemoration to raise eye donation awareness, honor donors and their families and celebrate cornea recipients.

Run for Vision
Since 1986, EBAA has hosted the Run for Vision, a 5K race that raises public awareness about cornea donation and transplantation. The Run, held in conjunction with EBAA’s Fall Leadership Conference, attracts hundreds of eye bankers, physicians, cornea recipients and donor family members, as well as interested members of the public.
Since its inception, the Run has been underwritten by Bausch + Lomb, which ensures that ever dollar contributed to the Run can be used to further our shared mission to restore sight.

National Minority Donor Awareness Month
August is National Minority Donor Awareness Month (NMDAM). Its purpose is to save and improve the quality of life for diverse communities by creating a positive culture for eye, organ, and tissue donation.

National Donor Sabbath
National Donor Sabbath weekend is an interfaith initiative where organ recovery organizations, eye banks and tissue banks work with those in the faith community to increase donation awareness.

National Donate Life Month
Donate Life America (DLA) has headlined the National Donate Life Month celebration since 2003. In conjunction with DLA, the nation’s eye banks, tissue banks, organ procurement organizations and other transplant groups celebrate this occasion annually in April, to acknowledge the extraordinary generosity of organ, eye, and tissue donors and their families, and to encourage fellow Americans to follow their example by registering as a donor.
