Supporting those who make sight possible. New resources to help eye bank professionals recognize the emotional weight of this work — and build the support structures to sustain it.
Team Support & Connection Toolkit
For supervisors and team leaders
Eye bank professionals work in environments involving regular exposure to death, grief, and emotionally intense situations. When difficult cases happen, the response in the hours and days that follow matters. This toolkit gives supervisors and team leaders practical, low-barrier tools to check in with staff early — before stress accumulates into burnout. No clinical expertise required. The tools range from a 5-minute post-case check-in to a structured debrief guide, a remote-specific support protocol, and a peer-driven “Talk to Me” conversation framework. Each is designed to be brief, voluntary, and clearly separate from any QA or performance process.
Self-Care & Reflection Toolkit
For all eye bank professionals
This toolkit is for the individual — the person at the end of a hard shift who needs help leaving work at work, or who finds themselves replaying a case they can’t quite set down. It offers three tools: a quick end-of-shift reset routine, a self-care guide normalizing common stress reactions and offering practical strategies to recover, and a structured reflection guide for processing difficult cases on your own terms. The goal isn’t to get over it — it’s to make space for the experience so it doesn’t quietly accumulate.
