Candidate Statement

I have been a cornea specialist at an academic medical center for a decade and have had the privilege to serve in leadership roles in national organizations within ophthalmology related to cornea, education, ophthalmic trauma, and diversity, equity and inclusion. At Johns Hopkins, I am the Ophthalmology Residency Program Director and a member of multiple patient safety and quality improvement committees. I believe my institutional and national leadership experiences will enable me to be contribute meaningfully to the EBAA Board of Directors in a collaborative and innovative manner. I have also had the opportunity to collaborate with my eye bank on several research endeavors through EBAA grants and publish on trends in corneal transplantation and disparities in the cornea workforce. I am passionate about defining quality metrics after corneal transplants as well as addressing disparities in access and outcomes following transplantation.
