The Eye Bank Association of America is requesting proposals from prospective eye banks to host the 2019 Slit Lamp Microscopy Seminar. This seminar will be a 2.5 day event designed to provide detailed instruction to beginning eye bank technicians on slit-lamp microscopy, including lectures, demonstrations, and individual practice evaluating tissue using slit lamp microscopes.

| Dates | The 2019 dates are TBD, but the seminar will likely take place September 2019. |
| Duration | The event will be 2.5 days; Thursday-Saturday. Preference given for locations that are willing to host the seminar two years in a row. |
| Attendance | The seminar will welcome 12-18 beginning eye bank technicians, 4 faculty and possibly 1-2 representative from the host eye bank |
Host Eye Bank Facility Characteristics
| Event Space | One or two rooms for use during seminar, including a meal space:Classroom – Large (approx. 1,800-3,000 sq ft) conference room/meeting space for lectures and slit lamp demonstrations. The space would include a screen and projector, adjustable lighting, tables and chairs for 22, instructor table for 4, tables in back of room for slit lamps, sufficient power supply and space for 8-12 slit lamps plus laptop and projector.Meal/ Conference Room (optional) – Room (approx. 600 sq ft) for breakfast, lunch and breaks. Tables and seating for 26 plus space for buffet serving area. |
| Audio/Visual Requirements | 1 screen, 1 projector, 1 wireless microphone, 1 computer, 1 slide changer/pointer; 1 slit lamp camera attachment |
| Slit Lamps | 8-12 Slit Lamp Microscopes in good working order. (8-11 for participants plus 1 for instructors with camera attachment for projection) |
| Corneal Tissue | Host eye bank will provide tissue for attendees to evaluate. |
| Personnel Needs | One staff person to assist with evaluations and a Medical Director to give an hour presentation as well as assist with evaluations on one of the days of the seminar. |
| Location | Close proximity to a major airport, nearby hotel and restaurants. |
| Lodging | Reasonably-priced hotel. Strong preference given to hotels with shuttle vans that can transport attendees to/from eye bank. |
| Catering Recommendations | Will request recommendations for catering options for breakfasts and lunches; EBAA will provide snacks for breaks and beverages for all meals. (Eye bank may be asked to purchase beverages for reimbursement by EBAA.) |
| Other | Host eye bank will have the opportunity during the lunch hour to give tours of the organization’s facility. |
