At-Large Candidate: Jason Woody, CEBT

President and CEO, Lions Eye Institute for Transplant and Research
Contact Candidate

Candidate Bio

I am extremely honored to have been nominated for the At-large position and believe my 29 year experience in the eye banking and organ donation community qualifies me for this esteemed position.

I have proudly served in various capacities with the EBAA, including Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, the Medical Advisory Board, Chair of the International Relations Committee, and the Certification Board. In addition I have been on the all of the above boards and committees as well as the Technician Education Committee, Nominating Committee (Chair), Practical Performance Committee, and the Item Writing Committee.

As an organization the Lions Eye Institute has hosted the Technician Education Seminar (TES) for over 17 years with well over 700 participants have attended; many going on to sit for the exam and be awarded the coveted Certified Eye Bank Technician (CEBT) certification.

Eye banking is now faced with unique uncertainties that threaten our organizations and with this comes great responsibility as a Board Member. And, most importantly, listen to the EBAA member concerns and convey those issues to the EBAA Board of Directors.

Candidate Statement

Thank you for allowing me to make a brief statement regarding candidacy for the Board position with the EBAA.

I see the association’s concept of leadership as the ability to move people toward necessary change at a level of speed and sacrifice they can tolerate. We have seen the modern image of a leadership organization change from telling you everything is okay, or if it’s not, don’t worry. That’s a very cynical approach, and it is one of the reasons so many people end up mistrusting the very organizations that represent them. Change can be difficult – even the most positive change.

I am running for this Board position not because I am wise enough to have all the answers, but because I am wise enough to know that the answers lie within the members themselves and this association.

If you are willing to lend your hand in creating a better organization; if you see the importance of all of us coming together to build a better future; if you are ready to roll up your sleeves and get to work; if you are proud to be part of this association, then I ask you to join with me in this endeavor.

Together we can move forward. Forward with a new vision for the EBAA.
